      The features of Yan Geling’ s works, good reading experience and rich meaning connotation are closely connected with the choices of imagery. Quite a few images and themes are rooted in the cultural reflection and criticism in term of the challenges for the mass consciousness and the description for the life experience on the edge of two cultures, the Chinese and the Western. However, the quest for the primitive life form and quality has become an significant part in inquiry of the civilization in a sense of cultural construction. The animal imagery was adopted in the circle of the cultural reflection and criticism, which endows them with powerful cultural metaphor and bears abundant cultural implication.
